From an average plumber to a successful entrepreneur.
You may be wondering how I ended up where I am today.
My story begins as an average plumber in the UK working on boilers and central heating systems. Then something strange happened.
I moved to Spain
I got married, had my first child and moved to another country all within one year.
When I was back in the U.K., I had a small team of heating engineers working for me and we were making decent money. The internet and my phone allowed me to run my company for four years in Spain. Essentially I was getting into lead generation without realizing it.
While living the beach lifestyle on the Costa del Sol, I realized that if I wanted to move into a comfortable villa and enjoy life with my family to its fullest, I needed to earn more money. Due to my current situation, I was unable to scale my local business to make significantly more income, especially as my employees began to take over my jobs. So I came up with this idea. Why don’t I close the company and start a brand-new nationwide lead generation business using the knowledge I already have? Rated People, for example, is already connecting tradespeople with customers and making millions from it. However I didn’t have a nationwide online presence and I certainly didn’t have the sophisticated lead management and distribution system on hand. But it quickly changed.
So I shut down the company and began to research how to generate lots of leads and what software would automate the lead distribution. I can tell you that it was an unpleasant surprise to learn how much conflicting information exists and what the price is. But it was too late. I have already made the decision to go for it.
path to success
After I sold my UK company, I needed an income stream. My success in lead generation was slow and I had to learn new skills. As my first project, I set up a local plumbing website. Within a matter of weeks, I generated a lot of leads. At first, I didn’t sell these leads. Instead, I did the jobs myself to support my family. Only part-time I worked on bigger ideas to make my online marketing career a success. It’s now been three years. Had a daughter, covid, and brexit all came. I still rely on my income as a local plumber. But I don’t give up! Over the years, I have participated in numerous webinars, tried various softwares, and learned a lot of new skills. It is finally time to strike.
