Verification Methods
Postcard. Google sends a postcard to your business address with a verification code. Takes 5 to 14 days. The most common method.
Phone. Some businesses are eligible for phone verification — Google calls your business number with a code.
Email. Available for some business types. Google sends a verification code to your business email.
Video. Google may ask you to record a video showing your business location, signage, and proof of operation.
Instant verification. Businesses that have already verified their website with Google Search Console may qualify for instant verification.
First 30 Days After Verification
Once verified, the clock starts. Here is the priority order for the first 30 days:
Week 1: Complete all basic information — categories, hours, services, business description, attributes. Upload at least 10 geotagged photos.
Week 2: Seed 5-10 Q&A entries. Start asking recent customers for reviews.
Week 3-4: Begin weekly posting. Continue review generation. Add products if applicable.
